Jean-Samuel, from Centrale Paris and Barcelona (active member in BEST from 2003 to 2007)
System Analyst - SAP
Location: Warsaw, Poland
University: Ecole Centrale Paris and ETSEIB Barcelona
Studied: Energy Engineering and Industrial Organization
Joined P&G: September 2006
Why did you join P&G?
I wanted to work in a truly multicultural environment. In fact when i applied for this position in Warsaw, my French and Spanish diplomas were immediately recognised, and the fact that I'm not fluent in the local language was not even taken into consideration, which is not the case for all employers.
Moreover P&G offers the possibility to work on very different projects and jobs (if you want to start in IT and then switch to Marketing, it's possible), and develop your skills all the time.
The atmosphere of work is also excellent, people know how to work in team, and this is particularly appreciable when you are on a very complex project, with people spread all around the world.
How would you describe your role at P&G?
I'm managing projects related to the implementation and maintenance of IT solutions to manage the Supply Chain (SAP). I'm working with the P&G employees who will be using the solution and with the technical experts who help us implementing these softwares.
This role is very interesting, because it requires to understand both the business process (the supply chain) as well as the technical solution that will support it (the software) . I work with very different people from all around the world (I'm based in Warsaw but work for markets in all Eastern Europe, Africa, Middle East and Russia).
Have you travelled to other countries/regions within your role?
Yes. For my projects (I'm based in Poland, but I'm not working on Polish projects at all),and for trainings.
Have you received any training at P&G?
Yes. P&G offers the possibility to develop skills continuously. I received trainings on SAP, project management etc...
The offer of trainings inside P&G is very wide, and your manager will make sure you develop your skills during all your career.
Name: Daniele Longo, ITALY
BEST history: LBG Torino, active member in the period 1994-1997. He has been Summer Course responsible and organiser of several events
such as GA 1994 in Torino.
P&G work: Daniele works for P&G in three Global Teams to upgrade the IT Platform used for International Relocation of P&G employees, to
develop a new IT support for managing In-Country Relocation, and to finalize and distribute training documentation for the next generation of
IT tools developed for P&G.
Mobility is the key word. Daniele started his adventure in P&G in November 1999 with a job application via Internet. Within 2 days P&G offices
in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Belgium, UK, and Italy were looking for him. "I finally started in London, and I must confess I had quite a very
busy and challenging time, but very interesting too."
Quote: Since he entered P&G Daniele worked already in four countries (UK, France, Switzerland, USA) and changed assignment six times,
working with people coming from all over the world, different cultures, mind-sets and languages. Just two years in P&G, but what a great time!
What's next? Who knows?
